Technique behind the Theatre Organ part 9
This article describes part of the electro-pneumatic relay.
More can be learned when visiting concerts in Dordrecht as this type of relay is set up in the cantine.
The register stop key (RW) is a switch which is linked to a magnet. When in the ‘on’ position low-voltage current is passed to the magnet which is located in the windchest and the positive current is led to the solenoid. This clears the way for the wind pressure to be directed to the register via lead (or plastic) tubing (LG).
